Officer Neal Martin
Officer Neal Martin began his career as a part-time police officer in the town of Washington, NH in 1987, while a full time student at Hawthorne College. After he graduated with an A.A. Degree in Criminal Justice, he held a seasonal full time position with the State of New Hampshire Marine Patrol and part-time positions in the towns of Henniker, Weare and Francestown.

In 1992 he was hired as a Patrolman by the town of Bradford, New Hampshire. In 1994 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In 1996, Officer Martin was appointed Co-Chair of the Henniker Hillsboro Domestic Violence Coordinating Council. He also served as a leader of a Law Enforcement Explorer Post, working with youth affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America.

In 1997, Officer Martin returned to college to complete requirements for a B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice, at New England College. While a full time student, he worked as a part-time officer for the town of Henniker. In August of that year he completed his course work and advanced to a full time position with the town of Henniker.

In 1999, Officer Martin received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congressmen Charles F. Bass and John E. Sununu, for "outstanding and invaluable service to the community".

In 2002, Officer Martin was presented with the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor, the highest award given to a law enforcement officer, "for an exceptional act of courage and bravery without regard for personal welfare".

In 2005, Officer Martin received an M.S. Degree in Management with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, from New England College. His thesis topic was Cost Benefit Analysis of National Accreditation for a Small Municipal Police Department. In 2007 Officer Martin became a member of the Alumni Board at New England College.

Officer Martin has written numerous successful federal, state and corporate grant applications for the Henniker Police Department. He is a member of the Serious/Fatal Accident Team, Sexual Assault Team, Domestic Violence Team and Major Crime Team. He is also a certified Firearms Instructor and Field Training Officer.
